Section Directors

Just a reminder that the Section Directors will be coming around collecting the dues and distributing our Newsletter starting this weekend. Also the notice on the AGM, Funday, BBQ too.

Boating Safety

One of the members of our Beach Association flipped his boat this weekend. Both Police and Fire responded to the flip. I am not naming names as it could have been just about any one in the association.

In his own words:
"Got dumped in the water at the north end of CWB by a wave that tipped my 12' boat about .5km off shore (in about 6.5' of water). Please do a post about actually wearing life jackets (and not just having them in the boat). There wouldn't have been so much emergency response noise if I had been actually wearing mine."

So here are some links on lifejackets and boating safety:

Stand up paddle boards and peddle boats require lifejackets:

WATER BAN NOW IN EFFECT
Due to the hot dry weather, a complete water ban is now in effect. Outdoor water use is not permitted at any time.  Tiny Township
I am guessing it only applies to those on the Township water systems.

Hope we can get some more rain be fore the long weekend. Lots of brown grass around the beach.

When I see the ban has been lifted I will let you know.

How to best bequeath the cottage

How to best bequeath the cottage

"Is there nothing more Canadian than the family cottage? Long lazy days by the lake, barbecues and beers capped off by a bonfire and roasted marshmallows under the stars. But those precious memories can turn bittersweet when the family cottage becomes part of a tug of war among adult siblings after the parents pass away. Most families are quite accepting that the city house is sold and the proceeds go to the estate for division among the heirs but because of the sometimes emotionally charged wishes of the parent(s) that the next generation continue to enjoy the cottage, we often see the country property bequeathed equally among multiple children."

Good News for those of us who live/play/work out side of town.
It looks like some very good stable internet access for areas like ours is in the works.

Not sure how much weather would effect it. Not sure what kind of upload speeds would be available, all though that would not be an issue for most users.
