Apps for the Cottage

A listing of Mobile "Apps" for the Cottage.

If you use an app this is not listed please let me know about

Waze

https://www.waze.com/  Waze

Available for Android, iOS, and Windows

I love Waze.

"Waze is the world's largest community-based traffic and navigation app. Join other drivers in your area who share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute."

The downside is if no one near you is using it, you do not get good data.

Cottage Traffic App

http://bit.ly/LQ79vu CTV Barrie

Covers the major road on the way to the Cottage, great coverage on the 400 from Toronto to Barrie.

Available for Android, iOS and BlackBerry

It does request your email address, so far no spam received. It seems to show what is going on with the traffic in near real time. I will update the review after I have used it on a few trips to and from the Cottage.

There were some questions about the need for putting your email address into the app and would you get spam. So far I have not seen anything that looks like spam being sent to the address I used.

Hydro One Mobile

http://bit.ly/M7oGCU Hydro One

Hydro One provides detailed outage information online and in the palm of your hand with our Storm Centre Outage Maps and Hydro One Mobile application.

Available for Android, iOS and BlackBerry

Is the power outage a breakdown in the system or planned work, this app lets you know. So far have not been at the cottage when the power is out, since I got the app, but the outages do get updated so it looks like a worthwhile app that I hope you do not need.
